CLASSMATE BIO

Carol Siebers

Carol (Siebers) & John Schubert: I think John and I actually met in class at Madison Jr. High - but really started to get to know each other in Mr. Main’s English class - and Mr. Halverson’s biology class. High school guys like to tease .... when giving a speech (Mark Mader!) and putting frogs (better than being pithed) in purses (John and who else?). We both graduated from UW Madison, then lived in Chicago until 1993 when we moved back to the real big Apple. We’ve been married 20 years and have 4 great kids (Liz 16 - a runner and a sophomore at EAST!), Mike 14 - who will go there next fall, Sara 10 - in 4th grade and Daniel 8 - a true sports fanatic. John is a consulting actuary with PricewaterhouseCoopers and has the honor of serving on several Federal Health Care Committees. Even though we live in Appleton, we consider Chicago our second home...John works in downtown Chicago and has been doing the weekly commute for 5 years. When we lived in Chicago, I was a Vice President in Corporate Lending and Training and earned my MBA from Northwestern. With children, I took another path and became the first part-time VP and then a consultant. Now in Appleton, I am a substitute teacher - primarily middle school math, science, lit - what ever they throw at me. The kids are great! For fun, we both still run and race. Who would have thought running a mile for the first time in my senior year and going to state would turn into a life long pursuit? Speaking of running, John has a funny story about Joe Nabbefeld..... Remember Clo Silva our AFS Student from Brazil? She has been back to the states twice and was trying to be back for the reunion. Plans did not work out, although she may be back in July. We are looking forward to seeing familiar faces (that certainly haven’t aged!) and catching up.
