CLASSMATE BIO
Laurie Kiser
April 2005
Hello, my name is Laurie (Kiser) Koestner and after school I worked as an
Emergency Medical Technician for several years before graduating in 1984 with
an Associate Degree in Nursing. In 1985 I married my husband Bruce, and we will
be celebrating our 20th anniversary in September of 2005. We have three
children, a daughter Alison (18) who lives in Racine and is a college freshman
and assistant manager for the Mobile Solution, and our boys Marty and Evan who
are 17 (yes, twins).
My career has been a busy one that began in the summer of 1976 by completing
the EMT training and working for a local ambulance service. In the fall I began
working in the emergency department of one of the hospitals in Appleton as an
EMT, then LPN, then RN 1984. The majority of my working experience has been in
the emergency department; however, I have had some short stints in ICU and
trauma program development in Green Bay.
I entered the world of adult learning and completed my Bachelor’s Degree in
2004 through the University of Phoenix Online. Currently, I am working on my
Masters degree in nursing education (MSN Ed.) through the University of Phoenix
Online, and have plans to continue my education with the completion of my Ph D.
in nursing education. I have begun my educational career as a clinical
instructor at the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh, School of Nursing.
My main hobby when I am not working or busy with schoolwork is horseback
riding. I have a 6 year old quarter horse and plan on spending lots of time on
the trail this summer.
I look forward to seeing old friends and reminiscing about the fun times we
have had.
